Costa Blanca - Golf Courses to the North
Alenda - The Alenda golf course is situated in the foothills of the Sierra de las
Aguilas
mountains and is close to the city of Alicante.
There is something on offer for all standards of golfer with
generous wide fairways for the majority of holes BUT on the back nine there
are some
serious risk and reward holes that can result in easy birdies
or a card destroyer.
The facilities include a 14 bay driving range and practice chipping and putting greens as you would expect and a large modern clubhouse has now been constructed replacing the smaller, more traditional building.
Alicante Golf -
Seve Ballesteros designed course is on the outskirts of
Alicante city
and close to the San Juan beaches and is unique because the
course is
par 72 consisting of six par 3 holes, six par 4 holes and six
par 5 holes.
On the par 5 14th hole you actually play over old Roman ruins
and the lake
on the 9th hole is in the shape of an 'S' for Seve.
The course is relatively flat but there are long distances
between greens and
tees and therefore a buggy is almost a must.
There are excellent practice facilities with a 70 bay driving
range, practice
bunkers and chipping and putting areas.
The clubhouse and facilities are open all year around from
08.00 till 18.00 in
the winter and 08.00 to 21.00 in the summer months.
Bonalba -
This course was designed by Ramon Espinosa and was opened to the public in 1993 and
is located just outside Alicante just a short distance from the beaches of San Juan and is very much a true golfer’s course.
Bonalba is a genuine par 72 championship layout of 6,367 metres (7,004 yards) from the white tees and a handicap slope of 132 which indicates the level of course difficulty.
The course designer has incorporated water hazards, numerous dog-legs and undulating fairways and greens in his plans which ensure that you do not just ‘grip it and rip it’ but need to plot your way around this course.

El Plantio Club - Situated
3 kilometres from the city of Alicante this is an urban
course. It has one round of 18 holes and another one of 9,
which makes it great for all players.
There is also a practice
course with covered tees on two levels and capacity for 120
places,
an approach course, a putting green and an
international golf school.
Planted with over 45,000
mature trees, over 15,000 bushes and plants and over 500,000
m2 of grassland, this area of semi-desert has been transformed
into a beautiful course.
Font Del Llop -
Nestling in a high sided valley close to the town of Aspe is wonderful golf course called Font del Llop, which literally translated from ‘old’ Spanish
means Wolf’s watering hole. The course blends naturally into the local scenery and the main feature of the course is a small river (formerly used in beer production) which runs through the course and which inter-links five ponds positioned to catch any errant shots.

La Galiana - This course designed by Moon Masters S.L is located just north of Gandia was opened in February 2011 and at 6,025 metres (6,628 yards) from the yellow tees features wide generous fairways but with 11 strategically placed lakes and numerous bunkers protecting excellent greens.

La Sella recently hosted the European LPGA Nations Cup and features long narrow fairways with numerous blind dog-legs and undulating greens and is one of the most difficult courses in Spain.

Oliva Nova
- Oliva Nova Golf is a par 72 course of 6,310 metres from the white tees and was designed by the great Seve Ballesteros and is generally flat and therefore easy to walk and is very close to the beach with sea views.
Although the course has wide fairways the strategically placed bunkers and water hazards make this a golfing challenge and the 170 metre (yellow tees) par 3 is the signature hole with a stream bordering the green and is considered one of the best and most difficult short holes in the region.
Villaitana -
Formerly known as Real de Faula this complex has two courses with the par
72 Levante championship course of 6,226 metres (6,849 yards) from the white tees has excellent views over the Mediterranean sea and Sierra de Finestrat mountains.
