The thieves are back

A number of years ago an organised group of thieves targeted the golf courses on the Costa Blanca and Murcia with proceeds of approx €40k but were finally caught in Alicante.

The “motus operandi” was always the same, to steal, money, wallets and phones, from buggies on the golf course when parked on buggy paths near bushes and out of sight of the golfers putting out on the previous green.

There have been reported that La Finca has been targeted on the punchbowl 14th hole and the par 3 16th hole where buggies must be parked a significant distance from the greens.

In addition in recent days it would appear that expensive golf clubs have been stolen from golf bags left unattended outside the clubhouse at La Serena while the owners took a pre-round coffee.

So the message is clear to only take valuables on the course if necessary, keep buggies and golf clubs in clear view at all times.

In the words of the 1980’s American police series “Hill Street Blues”, stay safe out there!
