The GNK group manage a number of golf courses in the Murcian region that were formally part of the Jack Nicklaus golf trail and include Alhama Signature, Hacienda Riquelme, El Valle and La Torre.
These courses were badly damaged by the storms of 2019 and then just as the recovered were hit by the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic and some of the courses for reasons of finance and maintenance have taken some time to recover but are now all in a much better condition and I would like to give you a brief update for each course as follows:
Both El Valle and La Torre had their greens hollow cored in late May/early June and both courses are fully recovered.
El Valle is in fantastic shape and the greens in particular are in very good condition and likewise La Torre is in excellent condition and gets better each day.
Hacienda Riquelme in particular was badly impacted by the lack of tourist golfers during the pandemic but is improving day by day with the greens and tee boxes are in very good shape and the fairways are starting to fill and during the summer the Paspalum grass will only get stronger in and there has been positive feedback from golfers that have played the course in recent weeks.
Hacienda Riquelme will be fully recovered by the end of the summer and in my view and many other golfers in the region, the course is one of the best layouts in Murcia and it’s great to have it back.
Alhama Signature reopened on the 15th of June 2022 after almost 2 years of being closed and the feedback from members and residents has been very positive and almost all expressed the opinion that the course is in better shape than they expected and are very impressed with the work the greens staff has put in the past couple of months and again the tee boxes and greens are in very good shape but similar to Hacienda Riquelme the fairways will be back to normal by the end of the Summer but the course is more than playable and it’s great to see people out playing one of the best courses in the region, if not in Spain.
