Around and About the Courses

As reported previously for whatever reason many of the local courses have decided that this summer and Autumn they will restructure their golf courses in some way and we have covered these periodically over recent weeks.

In addition to this there are some recent changes to ownership at the highest level which may impact on course condition and prices.

Here is a summary of just a few of these changes:

La Peraleja

The course has been closed for nearly 3 years now and there have been repeated rumours that an organisation had made a bid for the golf course, clubhouse and some land however the situation remains unchanged and there are no signs of course re-construction.

Mosa Trajectum

Some months ago we reported that the course at Mosa Trajectum which had been closed for 6 years had new owners and that the course was once again being re-constructed but as yet we have received no additional information but will provide you with an update when known.

Alicante

Hot off the press I have been informed that Alicante have been purchased by the owners of El Plantio and we still await details of the prices for 2020 as a result of this ownership change.

La Manga

The La Manga resort is probably the most famous of the golf resorts in this region of Spain being opened in the early 1970’s by the great Gary Player and one of the earliest golf tournaments was won by the legendary Arnold Palmer. However for the last 10 years there have been reported financial problems for the resort. I can now report that the La Manga Club has new owners in the form of the Hesperia Investment Group and we will keep you informed of any changes as they arise.
