Around and About the Golf Courses – Alicante

Around and About the courses – ALICANTE ’

This Seve Ballesteros designed course of 6,333 metres is on the outskirts of Alicante City and close to the San Juan beaches and was opened in 1998 and is unique because the course is a Par 72 consisting of six par 3 holes, six Par 4 holes and six Par 5 holes. On the Par 5 14th hole you actually play over ‘Roman ruins’ and the lake on the 9th hole is in the shape of an ‘S’ for Seve.

The large split level clubhouse has excellent restaurant (which is currently closed for renovation) changing and shower facilities and well stocked pro-shop with welcoming and helpful staff. The practise facilities are excellent with a 70 bay driving range, practise bunkers and chipping and putting greens.

The course is relatively flat winding between houses and apartments in a typically American style but with some long distances between greens and tees this is not a course for the walking golfers amongst you, hence the inclusion of the buggy in the standard price. The course architect (Seve) has drawn on all of his experience around the globe to produce a golf course that offers a little for everyone with reachable par 5’s,long Par 3’s and strategically well positioned bunkers and water hazards.

This is very much a risk and reward course, play positively and well and you will score well BUT play in a negative fashion and badly and this will soon reflect on your scorecard.

If you are planning to visit the Costa Blanca and play golf then very simply you MUST build a round of golf at Alicante into your schedule particularly during the summer months when the price including buggy is superb value.
