Around and About the Golf Courses – Vistabella
The golf course at Vistabella is a little gem designed by Manuel Pinero and was first opened to the public in 2009.
Due to problems in obtaining building permits the course was forced to open as an 11 hole layout and while these are some of the best holes in the area with strategically positioned bunkers and fast undulating greens and commercially is very economically well priced it still carries a stigma for some people of only being an 11 hole course despite it being considered one of the best maintained courses in the region.
I can now announce that the course owners have now authorised the completion of the final 7 holes and the ‘heavy plant’ necessary has been working on the course and they have sculptured both the fairways and the two large lakes incorporated in the design.
I have seen the plans for the other 7 holes which include strategically well placed bunkers and two greens with a carry over water to partially island style greens and again extensive bunkering and waste areas will complete the course design.
Extensive work is now under way to create the greens and in particular to lay the irrigation system and it is hoped that this work will be completed by the end of March or early April 2016.
The course will then be seed and allowed time to settle and mature and they hope to open the full 18 hole course to the public in January 2017 but possibly earlier if all goes well.
