The Power of Nature

‘The Power of Nature’

I have lived here on the Costa Blanca since 2004 and have never seen the bad weather conditions that we experienced last week with Los Alcazares being classified as a disaster area with the military needed to evacuate stranded citizens from their homes and to make roads passable.

We also saw on social media graphic videos of people being swept to their deaths in Benidorm and our thoughts are with their families at this time.

The extreme weather conditions have had a serious impact on the courses on the area and the green keeping staff at all courses are going to be busy for weeks to come repairing the damage and we as golfers must be patient as the courses won’t be in their usual condition for some time to come.

For example the low lying holes at La Marquesa are totally flooded,Roda,Mar Menor,La Torre,Hacienda Riquelme,El Valle and Alhama were unreachable and all hard hit by the weather conditions.

The courses in the higher areas such as Las Colinas,Campoamor,Las Ramblas,Villamartin and Vistabella have seen less damage and destruction but are still in need of time to be repaired.

While this area was badly In need of rain to top up dwindling water supplies the gods have given it to us in buckets loads and hopefully the weather conditions in the early new year will be as normal to give the courses and staff time to recover from the last onslaught.

On a brighter note seasons greeting and best wishes for the New Year to all our readers from the Leader and Costa Blanca Green Fee Services.
