Rory McIlroy – What equipment does he use?

Rory McIlroy has had a superb start to his golfing year with top six finishes in each of his first 5 events on the USPGA tour and finally winning the Players Championship at Sawgrass which is widely considered to be the 5th major. Now for many golfers here on the Costa Blanca a set of clubs consists of a bag of clubs purchased at an auction for €20 or on the other side of the coin the most expensive set of clubs,shoes,bag,gloves,balls and cashmere sweaters that far outway many players skill and capabilities. Have you ever thought of what clubs are in the bag of a major champion,if so take a look at the clubs currently in the golf bag of Rory McIlroy:

Driver

Taylor Made M5 with speed injected twist face technology with tuning resin injected into the face to ensure if conforms to golf club rules.

Fairway Woods He carries either a 3 wood or a strong 5 wood of Taylor Made M5 or M6 technology.

2-iron

Usually has a Taylor Made P790 UDI with Project X HZRDUS 105 6.5 graphite shaft

3 iron to 9 iron

Has a mixture of Taylor Made clubs with the 3 and 4 irons being P750 and the 5 to 9 irons being P730 proto irons all fitted with Project X7.0 shafts Wedges

Currently he carries wedges of 48,54 and 60 degrees loft which are machine milled to his own personal specification.Although all are fitted with Project X 6.5 shafts the 48 degree club is a milled grind version but the 54 and 60 degree clubs are both hi-toe wedges

Putter

For 2019 he is now using the Taylor made Spider X putter he he claims helps him with alignment which is where he had some problems in 2018. Golf Balls

He is using the 2019 version of the Taylor Made TP5 golf ball.

Shoes

For comfort and stability he is currently using the latest Nike Air Zoom Victory Tour Shoes

Now although he is a lucky bunny that he doesn’t have to buy this little lot it just gives you and insight into the pre course planning necessary to get a quality player into the winners circle.
